Why I joined the WI?: To make friends in Islington and learn new skills. I joined in 2007.

I am an RYA day skipper (I can sail a yacht!)

Why I joined the WI?: At the time (Feb 2010), my primary motivation was to find a women’s book group, after I fled in horror from one that panned Jane Austen’s Persuasion (the savages!). I found a wonderful book group and have made really great friends at N1WI.
Occupation: Part-time Project Co-ordinator at an architecture practice, Full-time mum to a lively toddler
Three facts about me: I have recently realised that I have sort of made a hobby of collecting hobbies – I collect tiny books and vintage scarves, and I cook, bake, make collages, write and sew, among other activities.
Even after living in the UK for 8 years, I still often say ‘pants’ when I mean ‘trousers’. It just feels weird!
I was a licensed food handler in Multnomah County, Oregon. My certification has lapsed but I still practice food safety, though in a strictly unlicensed capacity.

I'm a keen reader & active member of the N1WI Book group.
Days out see me with my camera to hand, relishing taking photographs of flowers, fauna, & trees; afterwards sharing my pictures in cards that I make for family & friends.
For several years I have been learning calligraphic writing - my favourite being Gothic script.
Why I joined the WI?: To meet new people, get involved with the community, support womens issues and to have a reason to leave work on time at least once a month!

I was born with 11 fingers (but am back down to the 'normal 10 now)
Despite a fashion based degree and career I cant even sew a button, but I am attempting to learn
I have a 3 drawer chest of drawers just for my jewellery but I do regulalry donate to charity shops to make space...
